Tree work where space and control matter
Many village and residential properties have mature trees close to homes, roads, gardens and utility lines. A tree may be accessible from the street but still require careful climbing and rigging because the drop zone is small or the surrounding property needs protection.
Owen specializes in the controlled side of tree work: reaching the work position, selecting the cuts and managing sections so the job can proceed deliberately. Black Dog offers difficult tree removal, house clearance, line clearance, ornamental pruning and climbing-based aerial work.
- Technical removals near structures
- Roof and house clearance
- Selective pruning for tree health and shape
- View cuts and vista pruning
- Direct communication with the owner-operator
Preserving views and the trees that frame them
View work is most successful when it starts with a specific sightline rather than a general instruction to remove everything. Owen can walk the property with you, identify the important viewing areas and discuss selective cuts that may reveal more water, mountain or sky while keeping useful trees and screening in place.
The same measured approach applies to ornamental trees around established homes. Pruning should respond to the actual structure and space of the tree, not force every tree into the same shape.
Free estimates and direct answers
Every tree project is different, especially when access is tight or the work is close to buildings. Black Dog offers free estimates so the scope, method and cleanup expectations can be based on the property rather than guesswork.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work in both Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor?
Yes. Black Dog serves these communities and other parts of Mount Desert Island. Call to confirm the property and project.
Do you provide line-clearance tree work?
Line clearance is one of Black Dog's listed services. Trees or limbs contacting energized utility lines may require coordination with the utility; Owen can evaluate the situation and explain the appropriate next step.
